Online Interactive Tool for Exploring Angles

NOTE: Angles are not assessed on the GED exam. There are angle problems on the TABE test.

This interactive resource has a lot of different ways for students to explore and practice different angle concepts.

Students can choose to create (1) one angle, (2) complementary angles – totaling 90 degrees, (3) supplementary angles – totaling 180 degrees, (4) angles around a point – totaling 360 degrees, (5) angles formed by two intersecting lines.

Here’s what it looks like with one angle.

By clicking on the image of the protractor, students can add a protractor.

Clicking on “Calculate” will hide the measurement of the angle. Then students can click on the red die, and a random angle will be generated. Students can practice reading a protractor to measure an angle.

Then they can click on the letter, in this case “a,” to check their answer.

Students can explore complementary angles in a similar way. Having it set to “Calculate,” will give students one angle, so students can practice finding the missing angle. Again, clicking on the red die will generate as many practice examples as students want.

There is another option to create more angles by adding additional lines.

Similarly, students can choose “supplementary angles” and practice finding missing angles…

and practice finding missing angles formed by two intersecting lines.

The best way to figure out how the website works is to play around with it, but there is a tutorial video available.
