This task from Illustrative Mathematics is a good model to help students see structure in expressions. This task specifically deals with the following algebra standard:

Use the structure of an expression to identify ways to rewrite it.

The task asks students to consider two algebraic expressions, use a visual pattern to illustrate that the expressions are equivalent and then look for ways to algebraically verify the same result.
